The House Beneath the Tree An International Puppet Theatre Project

The House Beneath the Tree is an original contemporary marionette production created through an international collaboration between artists from Brazil and the United States. Combining handcrafted marionettes, visual storytelling, music, and poetic theatre, the production explores themes of memory, resilience, imagination, and the human capacity for transformation.Inspired by folklore, mythology, and contemporary research on human development, the performance reimagines familiar fairy tale motifs through an original dramatic narrative. Rather than presenting simple heroes and villains, the work invites audiences to reflect on courage, belonging, compassion, and the choices that shape our lives. The production is intended for broad public audiences and encourages conversation across generations. The project brings together Brazilian puppeteers, visual artists, designers, and technical specialists with American playwright and dramaturg Dr. Rob Blinn. In addition to public performances, the project includes educational conversations with audiences, documentation of the creative process, and accessibility initiatives designed to broaden participation. Following its Brazilian premiere, the long-term vision includes national touring, an English-language adaptation, and future international presentations.

Project Status:  The House Beneath the Tree is currently in development for its Brazilian premiere and national tour.
